Witnessing the launch of the national electric car VF3, we are proud to have contributed a small part in the implementation of the MES system at the VinES battery factory, which is an indispensable product for the VF3 electric car. We have worked with the management team of the Vinfast factory and the VinES factory to build a production management process for the aluminum extrusion workshop from the beginning for the VinES battery factory to build a smart factory, record and analyze data instantly, transmit and receive information from the Vinfast MES system and the VinES MES system.
Steps to deploy MES at VinES battery factory:
- Because the factory was newly established and had not yet undergone the production process, there was no management form information to refer to. The parameters that needed to be managed were all built from scratch. We encountered many difficulties in being able to agree on the MES production management process to apply according to the management needs of the factory and connect data with Vinfast's MES system.
- Thanks to the help of experts at Vinfast factory and VinES factory together with our MES process consulting team, the parties finally came up with an overall management process and the detailed information that needs to be managed in it. Especially the product identification part serves the need for later traceability to evaluate product quality.
Information to be managed in the MES system:
- To ensure accuracy and timely data recording, the factory uses handheld barcode scanners to record production information. This information will be saved into the MES system and displayed instantly on monitoring screens at the factory.
- In addition to data obtained from manual data entry, the MES system must also record production data from production equipment such as extruders, saws, and CNC machines to count and check the progress and quality of output products immediately after production is completed. There is no need to wait until the end of the day to count to have a progress report like the conventional management method.
- Strict control through each stage ensures that the product fully meets the process without skipping steps, limiting errors in the process of statistics and recording information.
- Receive and transmit production data from VinES MES system to Vinfast MES system.
