OEE – Overall Equipment Effectiveness takes the three causes of lost productivity: Availability, Performance and Quality, combining them to create metrics that provide a consistent way to measure the effectiveness of machinery or process.
1-Availability Factor
The OEE Availability Factor represents the percentage of scheduled time that a machine or process is available for production. The Availability Index is an uptime measurement designed to eliminate the impact of quality, performance, and scheduled downtime events. The Availability Factor of the OEE index represents the the hundredth of scheduled times that a machine or process is available for production. The Availability Index is an uptime measurement designed to eliminate the impact of quality, performance, and scheduled downtime events.
The analysis starts with the amount of time your factory has available for production. From there, you subtract the number of planned shutdowns, including any events that are not intended to run in production (scheduled downtime). Downtime shortfalls should include production stoppage events such as material and labor shortages, equipment breakdowns, and equipment setup time.
Device setup time is included in the Availability analysis. While setup time cannot be eliminated, it can be reduced. Availability formula:
Tính khả dụng (Availability) = Thời gian hoạt động thực tế (Actual Uptime)/ Thời gian hoạt động theo lịch trình (Scheduled Uptime)
2-Performance Factor
The OEE Performance Factor represents the rate at which a machine or process produces parts compared to the design rate or standard cycle. This metric is purely based on the rate of production of finished products and is not influenced by availability or quality.
Performance = (Total Parts Produced x Standard Cycle Time/ Actual Uptime
Total Parts Produced includes rejected finished products. The Performance Index can show speeds greater than 100 percent, but when used in calculations, it must be limited to 100 percent to limit the impact on the percent.
3-Quality Factor
The Quality Factor of the OEE index represents the machine or process productivity of good finished products as a percentage of the total number of finished products produced. It is not affected by Availability Factor or Performance Factor.
Chất lượng (Availability) = Thành phẩm tốt (Good Parts) / Tổng thành phẩm được sản xuất (Total Parts Produced)
The way to calculate overall machine performance OEE is as follows:
OEE = Khả dụng (Availability) x Hiệu suất (Performance) x Chất lượng (Quality)
MES System – Manufacturing Execution System
MES - Manufacturing Execution System is a software solution applied in production management activities. MES provides functions that allow production management, work distribution and acts as a data collection system about the production process, productivity, material management, and work in progress status. At the same time, it provides information for managers to understand the factory's operating status in real time.
MES acts as an intermediary system between Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, and Supervisory Control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems or other systems. process management system.
Therefore, an MES system can provide decision makers with quick, more detailed data about the operating status of the entire factory, thereby making production optimization decisions.
